Pastor Jason W. Huebner
Reverend Jason W. Huebner was born into a loving Christian home in Woodstock, Il in 1973. In 1995, he earned a dual degree at Concordia University with a K-9 teaching certificate and was commissioned as a Director of Christian Education (DCE).
Pastor Jason served three churches in fulltime ministry as a DCE and Youth Minister from 1995 – 2008. During this time he also chaired a Walcamp Retreat Committee serving thousands of kids, and specialized specialized in foreign missions with ministry in Guatemala, Mexico, and the Navajo Nation.
In 1995 Pastor Jason married his high school sweetheart, Amy Jung Huebner. She has been a parochial and public school teacher, specializing in English as a Second Language. She is currently teaching in the Brunswick County Schools. Together, Amy and Jason have two adult children, Lillian and Jacob.
In time, Pastor Jason followed God’s call toward ordination in the Evangelical Lutheran Church Association (ELCA). He earned his Master’s of Divinity Degree and was ordained on 3.14.15, or as he likes to call it, Pi Day. Beginning in 2004, he served at the following North Carolina churches in various capacities: Saint John’s in Salisbury, Shiloh in Lewisville, Augsburg in Winston-Salem, St. James in Rockwell, and currently Saint Peter in Southport.
Pastor Jason has always had a heart for the various inter-church and community committees on which he serves, such as the NC Synod Book of Faith Committee, the G2G church building committee, Southport Oak Island Interchurch Fellowship (SOIICF), and the city of Gurnee Turkey Trot. He was trained as a Forward Together specialist for churches desiring consultants to assist in planning for new ministries. He also led a Growing Young continuing Education study for NC Synod Rostered Leaders.
Among his hobbies, Pastor Jason enjoys pickle ball, euchre, fantasy football, cycling, singing, and playing guitar. He also takes time for traveling with Amy, making music with Lilly, and helping Jacob with home improvement projects. He also likes meeting new people in Southport, sharing God’s love, and inviting them to the community of faith at Saint Peter.
